ABOUT US

The firm of W.D Massie, Funeral Directors was established in 1945 by the present owners father, who was the local joiner, carpenter and undertaker and has been providing funeral services to the people of Tarves, Ellon and surrounding areas since then.

The pace of life may have increased dramatically since 1945 but the need for local, friendly and caring professional funeral services remains unchanged.

The present owner William D. Massie (Bill) has in excess of 50 years experience in the funeral profession, gaining full UK membership to the National Association of Funeral Directors in 1982 and later appointed Scottish President of the Association for the year 1995-96. Being a family business his wife Helen is very much involved. On completing her education their daughter Maureen persued her own career, holding responsible positions with two leading UK retail outlets over a period of 15 years. In 2010 she made the decision to join the family firm becoming the third generation of independent funeral directors to be responsible for the day to day running of the business.

Our commitment is to provide funeral services to suit all budgets and personal preferences, offering a choice of traditional and eco-friendly funerals and to advise on pre-paid funeral plans. As the only family owned independent funeral directors based in the area, we aim to provide the highest quality of service, handle instructions with the utmost skill, care and attention with a modern outlook whilst maintaining traditional values.
